I buzzed my hair for school. I did this because I didn't want to have to worry about it until the semester was over. In hindsight, I am somewhat afraid of looking like every retarded-ass guy who hangs around at the grill all day shouting "YEAH TOTALLY WILL SEE YOU THEN DUDE."

Getting geared up for school

Aug. 12th, 2008 | 10:23 am
mood: nervousnervous

I am ready for school. I still have a few things to do, so in Tim fashion I shall make a checklist:

Turn off World of Warcraft
Complete the praxis 1
Finish classes at TCC
Apply for workstudy
Talk to matt's mom about library job
Put in sabbatical for food lion

Set up work study schedule
Turn in transcript from TCC
Buy another bookbag
Finish everything for library job
Buy textbooks
Buy other miscellaneous supplies

It looks like I am well on my way. If I forgot anything anyone, please feel free to comment. And no, I did not forget black metal >:o.

Sleep? Who needs sleep? I sure didn't last night. That's right; I have yet to sleep since the night before last.

...I'm tired.

Work study

I have been accepted into the Virginia Wesleyan College education work study. I do not know very much about the program. I do know that they have agreements with various schools allowing VWC students to act as teacher aids. I know a few of the local elementary schools that take place in this, and I wonder exactly how it works. I will know more about it on August 1st, when the positions open up for official sign ups.

This leads me to another question; Do I want to continue to work at Food Lion during the semester? I am leaning pretty much towards no. I was kinda screwed out of that scholarship from Food Lion, I'm taking 18 credit hours this coming semester, and I've already got that work study position guaranteed. I may talk to the front end manager about keeping me on for work over the summer and perhaps holidays. I am also toying with the idea of working one day a week for a few hours.

All in all I am nearly done gearing up for the fall semester. I have all the work for my summer economics class done, and my biology class is going very smoothly. In the next 3 tests I have to get something like a 30 on each of them and I'll pass with a C. That is also assuming I get an absolute 0 on the final exam. My grade doesn't matter because when it is transferred in, it just becomes a pass/fail type thing. The difference between an A and a C is non-existent.

Finally, I am sick of being broke. I'm sick of bumming dinner and food off of other people. I'm damn tired of being the other wheel that everyone has to say "who is going to pay for Tim." No one else seems to mind overtly, mostly because I pay for VWC, however, I am not happy with the situation. What I need to do is finish paying people off, get my financial situation straight, and set aside a bit of money so I can pay for myself when friends go out to eat. I think the last straw that drove me nuts is when Ashby paid for the present to my cousin. I didn't think much of it then, but later on I realized how retarded of me that was. I've gotta get into the broke college student lifestyle!

Job Front

mood: sadunfulfilled

As I've mentioned before, camp was a lot of fun. I have run into one major problem because of this; I just can't stand my job at food lion anymore. Maybe it is just some form of post-camp blues, but every minute at food lion is like pulling teeth. I used to be happy with it because it was honest work. Jobs like K-mart and Circuit City which was latent with deception and trickery didn't suit me.

Now though, I don't know if that is just enough. Yes it is nice, honest work, but I'm not sure if that means I can do it for the rest of my college stay. Well, I am perfectly capable of doing it, and I do not plan on quitting it because I need the job, but I sure do wish I could find something better. I want something where I work with kids. I want to be a supplemental instructor. I want to tutor. I want to organize activities for children. I want to get on stage with 6 kids and put on a show. I want to run around with kids and tell them about how much fun they are going to have.

The main problem is I don't even know where to begin looking.

music: I can walk on water, I can fly - Basshunter

So I heard this song on a random music video some time ago and I loved it. I recently found out it was basshunter. Everyone should check it out:

Also Evil Genius is getting pretty epic. Some really badass twists are ensuing. I am going to have to check out more by Catherine Jinks.

Also I need a suggestion for the next book to read. I have visual bookshelf on facebook with my list of books I want to read. Check it out and give me some feedback. If you can't see it well then...boo. I'm leaning towards Bridge to Terebithia, The Narnia Series, or perhaps the Neil Gaiman short story series.
